General Notes
Metazeunerite is one of only two uranium species reported from Tsumeb, (the second is kasolite).
Schmetzer et al. (1984) reported an occurrence of metazeunerite with betpakdalite from the West 20 Stope on 30 Level. Schmetzer (1985) described two further finds in which metazeunerite was associated with other arsenate minerals including adamite, hidalgoite, pharmacosiderite, scorodite and tsumcorite, and also with wulfenite. These occurrences are summarised by Keller and Innes (1986).
According to Gebhard (1999) "The co-type specimen of keyite from the Key Collection has green tabular crystals [of metazeunerite] up to 6 mm size on adamite and keyite." It should be noted, however, that Embrey et al. (1977c) make no mention of this association in their original description of keyite.
A separate specimen, formerly owned by Crystal Classics and also from 30 level, showed a small group of platy metazeunerite crystals (to 2 mm) associated with hidalgoite and betpakdalite (all analytically verified) in a vug in siliceous matrix.
