General Notes
Argyrodite was recorded by Bowell and Mocke (2018) in a "thin section" believed to have been prepared by Tsumeb Corporation mineralogist Bruno Geier in 1966, from material attributed to 38 Level in the second oxidation zone.
According to Bowell and Mocke (2018) "Argyrodite is present as fine grey patches in Reinerite [sic.; presumably renierite (?)], Germanite and Tennantite" in material "… listed as being from Level 38 from the north vein" in the collection of the Geological Survey of Namibia.
Geochemically, the occurrence of argyrodite at Tsumeb is entirely plausible. Argyrodite was identified by Bowell and Mocke (2018) based on SEM/EDS analysis; however, their table of analytical data and description of the material contain several errors and omissions such that the validity of the identification is considered questionable.
Associated Minerals
germanite (?); renierite (?); tennantite-(Zn) (?)
