General Notes
Blass et al. (2009) described an occurrence of intermediate composition "mixed crystals" in the kintoreite-segnitite series. Greenish-yellow aggregates of segnitite/kintoreite occurred with goethite growing on rhombohedral smithsonite crystals. Of thirteen segnitite/kintoreite crystals analysed, six showed a slight dominance of phosphate while the remainder were arsenate-dominant with a marked tendency for phosphate enrichment in the smaller crystals.
Kintoreite was reported by Bowell and Mocke (2018) based on an identification "by XRD and visual assessment" on a specimen (GSN # 8298) in the collection of the Geological Survey of Namibia and attributed to the West 20 Stope on 32 Level.
There is no record of kintoreite from Tsumeb in the peer-reviewed literature and questionable status is retained pending confirmation.
