General Notes
Hydroboracite from Tsumeb has been reported on Mindat as occurring on a specimen of germanite in the collection of Walter Veldsman (https://www.mindat.org/locentry-1476454.html; accessed April 2023). The hydroboracite was identified by Joy Désor using Raman spectroscopy.
Hydroboracite is a mineral generally associated with evaporite deposits and its occurrence with germanite in an oxidising epigenetic sulphide deposit is paragenetically improbable. Except for detrital tourmaline, hydroboracite is the first borate reported from Tsumeb.
The occurrence of hydroboracite at Tsumeb is therefore considered questionable pending further information.
